Parthiv Gohil: The Soul of Sufi with SAAZZ.................

Parthiv Gohil, playback singer and winner of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa television show, designed, orchestrated and performed at the mellifluous annual musical concert, ‘SAAZZ’, which took music lovers on a memorable journey of sensual Sufi music. The unique concept of Sufi, which means “the relation between the beloved and God”, was passionately performed by Parthiv Gohil, Kavita Seth and other leading artistes. The entire programme was hosted by the most beautiful and talented Rakshanda Khan, who won hearts with her versatility in dazzling diction and immaculate shayaris.

The SAAZZ show started with Sufi instrumental, Shayari and Alaaps. Several super hit and legendary Sufi songs were sung one by one by Parthiv and Kavita. The supremely talented Parthiv Gohil did complete justice to the theme of Sufism with a power packed performance. With his velvet soft and trained voice, he opened the show with A. R Rahman Sufi based song “khawja mere khawja, dil mein samaja, shaho ka shah tu, ali ka dulara” and the next was “Sajda” and next “tuta tuta ek parinda aise phuta ke phir judna paaya, luta luta kisne usko aise luta ke phir ud na paya, girta hua woh asman se aakar gira zameen par, khwabo mein aur baton mein phir bhi kaheta magar, ke Allah ke bande hans le” and next “tere naina tere naina tere naina re“. And at the end both Parthiv & Kavita did a jugalbandi on Runa Laila’s “Da ma dum mast kalunder”, which proved both of them to be geniuses in their own rights.

Parthiv Gohil has a great sense of music and while singing, he was orchestrating and inspiring the musicians. The timing and the tuning between him and the musicians was just fantastic. It was sheer pleasure to watch Parthiv Gohil both as a singer and music conductor. Due to his powerful presence and uniquely different, soulful and rustic voice, Parthiv sang in an inimitable style and made every song penetrate the heart and touch the soul.

Parthiv Gohil says, “Sufi music is a junoon, a language of true emotions, which has divine powers to transport one to a different world. A world where there are no boundaries, no religions, no prejudice where everything seems to be in balance and in perfect harmony. Close your eyes and listen carefully, you will hear music all around. I owe everything in my life to music; it is my profession, my passion, my way of relaxation, the very reason of my existence. To put it in a nutshell, my life is a musical journey by which I spread the message of love.”

In today’s world of western influences, the decorum of Sufi music with refined 'ghazal-gayaki' with prosaic grace is engaging Parthiv Gohil renders a splendid performance in supple tones that talk considerately about the aromatic fragrance of real love. His soothing charm reminds some of the finest 'ghazals' and gels gracefully with tuneful beat of classical Indian musical instrumentals. The harmonized collage of various musical instruments is the soul factor that works in tandem with impressive vocals. He gives it an ethnic Sufi 'qawalli' feel and yet pitches high toned yelling voices that affix earthen feel of romance in it.
Sufi is beautiful and soulful music in varied genres, styles and format, which dares to be creatively different and yet succeeds with panache. Pathiv Gohil braves to experiment and dares to survive and excels in the original soundtracks. He makes you feel the musical artistic impulse in almost every song and give it a repeat hear to explore the mystical charms of soulful music.

Parthiv Gohil received the passion for music from both his great grandfather and father. The young talented singer Parthiv Gohil was born in Bhavnagar – Gujarat, he was the disciple of Pundit Omkarnath Thakur, his grandfather and father both were passionate classical singers, he was the mega finalist of TVS – SA RE GA MA, Pundit Jasraj the panel Judge and the host Sonu Nigam encouraged him in his singing, he worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Ismail Durbar, Monty Singh, Vishal Bhardwaj, he made his debut with 2 songs in Sawariya, he also did the title song of Devdas and thereafter no looking back. Parthiv hasn’t looked back since then. He has hosted the program Sa Re Ga Ma on Alpha Gujarati channel of ZEE.
