About Grillopolis:-

“What do you call a grill house that beckons you to dine under the arches of the Grand Bazaar? Where each course, is an iconic representation of centuries of culinary evolution. How often does a feast take you on a sojourn across mystical lands? From the Ottoman influences of Istanbul to the intriguing flavors of Lebanon, from the windswept deserts of Morocco to the sangria moments of Portugal, from the effortless effervescence of Spain to the traditional culinary of Greece. Where a sumptuous spread borrows from the elementary technique of grilling and lends itself into a gourmet, gastronomic experience? What, indeed, can you call such a dining destination? Grillopolis…perhaps.

We present Grillopolis, with the hope that you enjoy the journey as much as we have enjoyed creating the destination.”

This is how owners Nisheeth Sharan & Ashok Singh present their latest venture Grillopolis to Mumbai. Designed as a destination restaurant with a dedicated Lounge level, the shortest description of Grillopolis by patrons is a wow! Try decoding that ‘wow’ and the enigmatic Grillopolis reveals itself in layers of well thought out ideas fusing seamlessly together.

The Cuisine:
Team Grillopolis has managed a complex concept with elan. It is positioned as a grill house, because the DNA of the kitchen is grills. However, the grilling here, raises the bar and transforms itself into a gourmet experience. The cuisine is the best of grills on the Mediterranean coast representing Turkish, Lebanese, Moroccan, Portuguese, Spanish and Greek influences.
The service gadgets too, elevate the experience. While the grilled trout is delivered to your table in a cage, the parmesan crusted chicken rides in an ornate Espetada. The table set up has two spray cans and the pepper mill. Allowing you to spray your choice of balsamic vinegar or extra virgin olive oil for the added zing.

Chef Paramjit Dhiman, Sous Chef Hardeep and Pitmaster Suman weave their spell here. Masterchef Harpal Singh has guided them admirably in putting together a spread, so like a sojourn.

The Ambience:
Grillopolis has a distinct sense of celebration. The gigantic main entrance emphasizes a sense of arrival. The canopies on the exterior transport you to a different mood, a different place. The weather beaten sandstone floor and the intricately carved door leads to the main dining room which borrows lavishly from the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul. Running arches, vaulted ceilings, stained glass sun lights and lamps, handmade Turkish tiles and Siberian blue pine tables set the tone immediately. Booth seating creates coves of privacy on the main floor with a pathway meandering around the buffet console. A visible live kitchen has pitmasters working the grill and a sizzling smoker. This is how the floor captures the romantic adventure of the eastern Mediterranean.

A solid wood, period staircase takes you to the first floor. This is our very own Bosphorus, says Nisheeth. Cross this and it takes you metaphorically to Europe and physically to the Lounge Level. 22 flights of stair take you to another world. Contemporary, but warm. The focal point here is the island bar with a wooden canopy. Rows of glittering stemware suspend themselves above the bar. The floor here is interestingly divided over two split levels. The upper wooden deck has two private dining rooms for business meets, private celebrations and special occasions. The lower level is flanked with leather banquette in a more casual seating style.

“I see this floor as the living room of the suburbs, says Nisheeth Sharan. It is a place to be together in. Meet up. Catch up. Converse. It has a relaxed ambience. The music has pep, but not high energy. It is what you would normally play when you have friends over at home. This is not a loud, dance place. We see our patrons as 35 plus professionals, who are looking at a quieter, more relaxed environment.”

The Bar:
Bar specialists Kishore Thapar and Vijaypal Rawat have outdone themselves in the fresh ingredients department. The cocktails have an element of surprise, being largely derived from fresh seasonal fruits, herbs and exotic condiments. A chosen stock of wines and malts pairs well with the cuisine on offer.

The Entertainment:
Team Grillopolis is very clear about its entertainment. A live AV set up with India’s only Pioneer rack of DVJ1000s and SVM 1000 drive the system here. The delivery happens via the Application Engineered JBL speakers (India’s 3rd) and Crown amps. DVJ Vicky has been evolving into one of India’s few digital video jockeys for a few years now.  For most of the week he plans to spin only live concerts, a genre to a day. With a large projection screen and a bank of LCDs, the visual component of the entertainment is the key here. “Check out Phil Collins or Vanessa Mae in concert here, says Vicky. It will take you right into the audience and the concert.”

The entertainment is designed to cater to multiple experiences. We can host a Supper Theatre to a book reading, a live jam to a recital, even a Shayari with equal ease.

The Pricing Structure:
Grillopolis has a simplified pricing strategy. “We would like you to drop your queries outside the door, say Vikrant Singh, Business Head. We operate a prix fixe structure. The weekday lunch is priced at Rs 500 per head and dinner at Rs 650

per head. That includes 7 starters, main course and mineral water. Unlimited helpings. And yes, that includes prawns and crab. If the mood is to go light on the food, step up to the lounge level. The same fare is available a la carte here, with the buffet being replaced with pre plated meals.”
