month before the Cricket World Cup, it looks as if Vikram Singh, who also loves cricket,

packed a powerful punch at the game that is religion in this country! And he has expressed his
desire to promote boxing in India as it is a complete sport with constant attacking, defending,
sparring and drills --- all about speed, endurance and stamina. He also feels that the best reward

Though Vikram Singh’s childhood aim was to become an actor, he developed
phenomenal interest in boxing during his formative years. Vikram has trained in boxing
at the Northside Boxing Club at Auckland, New Zealand for 8 months under coach
Peter Derrick. Back in India, he keeps practising

home. He punches for 30 minutes daily and also has a speed ball to monitor and maintain
punching speed. Though still an amateur he plays it as a sport and not a fight. And he is
proud of having stamina to carry on till 9 rounds of 3 minutes each.

Talking about his passion, Vikram says, “I’m very happy that Vijender Singh won the
Olympics gold and our country should now start focussing on power sports rather than
cricket. As India emerges as an emerging global economy with lots of affluence and

Vikram feels that he has trained himself to pack more power into lesser punches, as that
is smart way to win. He also believes in a fair game with no tricks or shortcuts. He wants
